For the majority of this book we see Misaki as a mother and wife to her husband Takeru Matsuda, the second son of a revered family and a renown swordsman. In flashes we also see Misaki as a 15 year old crime fighter, a sword wielder of uncommon ability, fearless and able to do things most people cannot do.
The world building in this book is fabulous. Some people are able to manipulate certain physical elements, Misaki and Takeru can manipulate water and things composed of water (like blood), so blood can be frozen and water vapor can be pulled out of the air at the molecular level and reshaped into a frozen spear or sword. This can make for some very dramatic encounters between adversaries.
I really enjoyed this story of this remarkable woman and the narration was perfect.
