A dystopian fantasy set in an alternate Hawaii that has undergone some drastic changes. The setting for the story is great and the world captures the imagination from the get-go. It has so many different things thrown in together (vampires, weres, fae, and wizards) that it is hard not to be excited about where things can go. The story itself revolves around Brie and tips into familiar territory for the dystopia/fantasy genre of a class rebelling against another ruling population. Brie is thrown into the deep end and asked to intertwine herself with the people she wants to overthrow.

The narration by Sarah Puckett was strong throughout and I enjoyed her performance of the book. The world-building was the highlight for me and would love to get the full history of how this world came to be the way it is. A solid opening act for a new series with exceptional room to develop.

I was given a free review copy audiobook at my request by the narrator and have voluntarily left this review.
