To be blunt and nonspoilery the main character Esper is a Mary Sue and not like the well written ones. It really says something about the character when you’re more invested in the side characters instead of the main protagonist. Speaking of side characters it seemed every female was either hot intelligent or both (most of them being thirsty for Esper) while guys seemed to be brutish and/or outright retarded. I counted like 4 guys that were not incompetent and even then something was wrong with them. If it wasn’t for Kubu and Wesley Wesley (my name’s Wesley so bonus) being in the story I probably would have stopped around mission 4. If you finish the 1st mission whatever feelings you have it’s going to be the same for the rest of this book. I wouldn’t recommend this book unless you have only 1 credit and want to listen to something for hours until you get more. And make sure you read Outlaws first. It’s not really necessary since I didn’t read outlaws ( didn’t know there was a previous installment) but it does give some context but I hear it’s better than this book but that could be a double edged sword deal.
