I started this book without having read or listened to any of the others in the series, although I have listened to several by the same author and narrator (that should say something good about them). I don’t feel that I missed much by starting here, but I am definitely planning on going back and listening to the others in the series.
This book was great fun, and I loved the characters, adventure, suspense, and twists. Having read a few other of Zandri’s books, it is pretty clear that he likes to write about a certain type of character…alpha male, handsome, a little troubled, and able to seduce beautiful women in a single bound…basically think of James Bond, but with significant issues and possible chemical dependencies. I actually thought that this type of character would not appeal to me, but I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed these stories.
