I love that the protagonist is a young woman. I’m older than she, but I feel I can relate to her in many ways. The other main characters are also well thought out, and we get a good feel for who they are. I enjoy the sub-plots, and seeing how they will come together. Further, I love the flashbacks entwined throughout the story, which gives us a look into what Lauren was like pre-collapse, as well as the interactions she had with her father. This is a great book that includes action, suspense, drama and some mystery. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.
Kevin Pierce gives an excellent performance, making a great book very enjoyable to hear aloud. I’ve listened to hundreds of Audibles, and narrators can really “make or break” it. Kevin definitely enhances the book with his narration; I recommend this Audible.
