I have to say that his story, for the most part, really pulled me in. The diverse set of characters and settings were well developed along with an intriguing plat. The uncertainty of exactly what was going on beneath the surface of the water was compelling. As more information, and finally sightings, were revealed the suspense grew as to how the tale was going to unfold; there were many imagined scenarios. I was totally immersed in the listen. Unfortunately, just as the story was reaching what seemed to be the climax, it dove into a very typical ending of many monster stories during the closing few chapters. I found the ending to be a total letdown, especially since the story had been rather creative up until that point.

That being said, the narration by Jeffery Kafer was fantastic, complete with Aussie and German accents, and pulled the my overall rating of the listen from a 3 to a 4-star rating by bring just the right amount of suspense in his delivery.

I would recommend this book for those that enjoy the monster/beast from the deep genre’s. A review copy of this audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in return for this unbiased review. My hope is that this review helps in your decision to obtain this book.
