This is in no way an insult to the author; but I can not stand the writing style of the book. It’s… choppy. I have no idea if that was intentional because Ox is a rather blunt no nonsense character but it drug the enjoyment down for me a bit. It’s a fantastic story, I just feel the style lowered it for me. And the performance of the narrator could only do so much with the style of the book. To his credit he was expressive when he needed to be. But overall kinda monotonous. Though like the writing style feeling off, that could have been because Ox is a very straightforward character, and the story is told from his perspective.
I do intend to listen to the other books in the series because once more tue story is amazing. If I can see past the idiosyncrasies of the writing.
