This is my first read from S.E. Smith. I really like the characters and all the detail that the author put into developing the story properly. I like that the story takes places in several different places, it made it more entertaining. Jesse and Hunter are really great characters. Hunter is warrior who has always been taught about battle and strategy, but never about emotions. Jesse is a girl in her early twenties who was forced to become both mother and father to her two younger sister after her parent’s sudden deaths. This story is about an alien race that comes to earth and Jesse an Hunter are on opposite sides of the battle. Though they come from different worlds, literally, they are the perfect compliment to one another. One is strong when the other is weak, one is hard where the other is soft and vice versa. I had a really good time listening to this story. I like Hunter, Jesse, Jordyn, Taylor, Dagger and Saber. While it hasn’t been confirmed for me yet, I’m certain that we got our first glimpse of two other pairs in this story. The ending of the story is both Sad, stressful and heartwarming. I hope that they accomplish what they were discussing in the end.
The narrator did an amazing job bringing the characters to life throughout his performance. I really enjoyed listening to him. Well done to both the author and the narrator on a wonderful job.
