S.E. Smith has a winner in this first book in the multi-author Magic, New Mexico series about a town made up of very special residents. Lacey is a widow who runs an animal shelter and lives a quiet life until Frost enters arrives chasing an intergalactic fugitive. He’s a Star Ranger; she’s a Witch; a charming, romantic, funny story ensues. Yes, there’s some bad guys and sad times, but that’s not what stands out.
Brenin does a very decent job with narration.
