Ember is done with the same level of writing and storytelling as the Jason’s tales in the main story line. Fin is a developed and interesting character, keeping with the theme of broken people finding a path toward redemption in AO. The story is well told, has lots of action, and major characters are well developed. And if the pattern from the main series holds true here, I think it likely a certain dangerous thief will have a book of her own before long. Aside from someone having irrational fear of harming the character of a player who will respawn, characters show their own motivation and behave in ways that make sense in the story. If you enjoyed other AO books, you should enjoy this as well.
Narration also keeps the quality of the main AO books. He does a good job and it is easy to tell he puts a good deal of effort into the performance.
