This is a great start to a series, but could be read as a stand alone as a HFN ending–no cliffhangers which I greatly appreciate. It has been a long time since I have read a historical romance with pirates in the story. This was a very good story and I feel stayed true to the time period. The added BDSM elements were interesting, but I would have enjoyed the story just as much without them. It is like an updated twist on a classic. I really enjoyed the narration. Piers Ryman’s French accent for Gaston was great. I never thought I would fall for pirate with an eye patch until now. Looking forward to the next installment so the adventure can continue.
