This is the first book I’ve experienced from L.L. Akers (which judging from the picture on Amazon is not just one person but a family writing together) but it most certainly won’t be the last. I’m a huge fan of the survival genre enjoyed the heck out of Fight like a Man. Like many books in this genre, Fight Like a Man tells the story of not one character, but many, this opening book in the series centers around the ordeals/perils that many characters face as they attempt to get home after some disaster that has befallen America. What happened? Or has attacked us? There’s plenty of speculation, but the answer is never given, not yet anyway. Perhaps we’ll find out in a future volume. The book is loaded with great characters and plenty of action. And that ending! Dang what a place to end the book! II immediately checked to see if the sequel was out, but it isn’t coming out until December!
Kevin Pierce once again does a spectacular job with the narration. IMO he is THE voice of survival fiction. There is just something about his voice that just works so well for this genre. Without a doubt he is one of my favorite narrators. (and thanks to the recent 2 for 1 sale I just picked up a couple more of his books)
