I have never read Mr. Horton’s books before, so I cannot comment on whether this is the best book to start with this author on. It certainly was for me, as I immediately tried to figure out when Book 2 was coming (only to realize Book 1 was published this summer). Very simply this was an excellent post EMP book for the masses as it had a “normal” main character who is just trying to get by while dealing with internal battles of morality. By normal I mean someone that I think most people who are not super preppers could relate to. I can almost picture my retired father in Dan’s shoes, I’m also a big fan of E TN, so perhaps I’m partial (Idaho has always sounded like a place to visit as well, have to say it’s next on the list after this book).

Mr. Horton, if you happen to read these reviews, please hurry with Book 2 and in the meantime I shall be burning my stimulus money to binge read your other books. Don’t take too long as I do not know when the next stimulus or job is coming, and I want to get Book 2 before I’m broke!
