I’ve listened to and read a lot of post apocalyptic books and series. This is the best I’ve found overall. The author is not a former military guy so it’s not packed full of tactical lessons like some others. It makes up by being better written with better character development. If you’re after the tactical lessons I would suggest Jeff Kirkham or Max Velocity. This book is still full of a lot of moral lessons and things to get you thinking. If you’re listening as a way to better mentally prep for a disaster like this you will still get a lot out of this series.
It does get a little feminist and cringy with all the women being tougher than the guys. It would be nice to have more of a range of main female characters. This is true of all his books so it does get old.
Kevin Pierce is the best narrator I’ve heard.
