I really love the idea of this book. The protagonist is a high level leader of the biggest guild in the game then gets betrayed and forced to start over as a level 1 goblin. So much potential!
While the game world is fun and listening to him build up his goblin village is satisfying the protagonist of the story is frustratingly dumb. For somebody who was one of the most powerful players in the game he seems to barely understand how it works and makes zero use of his extensive game knowledge to create cunning strategies. He enters situation after situation with absolutely no plan whatsoever and gets destroyed over and over again without seeming to learn anything from the experience at all.
It’s really hard to give examples without spoilers but suffice to say anyone with half a brain will be left flabbergasted as to the sheer quantity of pointlessly dumb decisions made.
If the author of this book actually plays any games they most certainly do so much differently than I do!
