The narrators did a fantastic job and the sound design and effort they put in were top notch. SoundBooth Audio always does incredible work. But my god the story was terrible. The closest thing to character development were 2 sentences in the last chapter and I’m pretty sure that was accidental. The main character gets access to a fantasy app that sees monsters everywhere and is immediately the best at it. Why? no idea. His genius idea is to put the tank monster up front and it’s treated like no one has ever thought of this. And by no one, i mean the 3 other people who seem to have access to this app in all of NYC. He wins most fights off screen and the antagonist plot wraps up with a note saying “my bad” and a deus ex machina gift. It’s a bad book. Skip it.
