Ok, I’m 3/4s the way through the 3rd book and I have to say, what the heck happened!!!!
before I go and rant I will say that the series is worth a read. starts slow but gains speed and Its fresh take on litrpg is creative. I wish there was more of a back story on the what and whys but it’s still a good read.
NOW, there is this one little thing about the MC that is driving me up the wall!!! after the death of amber, lee turned into a jerk and it’s a wonder nobody just said screw it, I’m out. hes arrogant, keeps everyone in the dark for absolutely no reason, expecting them to just have blind faith and then snapping at them for questioning them. ( one part in particular is EXTREMELY infuriating, you’ll know which)
He wont listen to anyone’s advice unless it goes along with his own opinions. even going as far as ignoring the game system helper thing that knows WAY more than him and is proving rt more than once but still does the opposite bc, he knows best. he can’t seem to grasp the concept that if he dies, its game over! everyone else was put there for the war. hes the player. sacrifice yourself for one of them is super stupid and proves nothing other than your an idiot. its tuff to root for an idiot. more so when EVERONE of the other characters are repeatedly saying, if you do this, your an idiot.
THIS IS MY TAKE on his behavior and other than the main character being an arrogant teenage monk who thinks girls and sex are icky, the other characters make up for it. jade is an absolute riot!!! I love her. she needs her own book for sure.
The narrator was brilliant and is now in my top 3 hands down. he has more so many variations to his voice that sometimes I swear theres more than one guy. he even has a different narrative voice than he did in other series. I love him and sound booth audio aswell. those guy are fantastic.
