This was an excellently crafted book. The character development and involvement with one another is great. In the best way possible, this reads like a car crash you can’t stop staring at. The author is great at description and building empathy for characters. I enjoyed it very much, and would recommend it. That being said, there were a few parts that made for a disturbing read. Below be SPOILERS!
If any of these things are triggers for you please be aware:
1. This book has a character that mutilates and kills small pets, and it’s descriptive enough about it to make me almost stop listening.
2. This book has characters who mutilate and kill other humans … fine by me, but I just thought I’d mention it because of #1.
3. This book alludes to (doesn’t get into detail about) child molestation.
4. This book vaguely references rape and domestic violence.
I don’t want to scare anyone away from it, again, I’d re-listen to it myself. I just feel like it would be a good idea to point out that this author pulls no punches on certain subjects. So, please check it out, but also please be prepared. Great story, great characters, very well written. Highly recommend!
