So I really liked it overall. The story, characters and plot are all interesting and engaging. However I found myself endlessly frustrated with one aspect. The main character has a very interesting power and very very little exploration was done on ways to use it. It is simple to trigger yet when the time comes the character always has some foolish roadblock to using it. The number of times a cough got in the way was pretty infuriating.
I feel like the author had a ‘superman’ problem. The ability was ‘potentially’ too powerful so she reigned it in carefully however after like the first half of the book this feels really contrived. Unfortunately this leaves us with a feeling that the character is either completely stupid or completely incompetent.
Overall I do reccomend it as I really enjoyed the overall plot, magic system and narrator.
