The fact that Lyrian somehow never gets hurt even a little bit is completely ridiculous. And her crazy powers are impossible to understand but I guess they’ll get to that eventually. Oren is a lucky boy. He somehow managed to not lose a single level because he’s a special boy. Also store a year’s worth of food even though I’m pretty sure it was previously mentioned the food would still spoil even in storage. Apart from that, the reentry to the game was really well done. A new paradigm was necessary to make the story still be interesting after he was finally able to leave. I can’t believe he just accepted Vic back so easily though… That was a major betrayal of his trust. But I guess he needed him..
Overall, this was one of the best volumes in my opinion. Well balanced between action, strategy, and character development. Also, characters seem to actually have more of a personality compared to the first few books. And the narration and audio was amazing! Soundbooth has really found their groove. The SFX was really worth the listen. It made action scenes especially just be that much more impactful and memorable. Well worth the listen.
