I really enjoyed this series. It’s filled with great characters that you like but recognize the deep flaws they hold. This is likely the last book in the series and it’s another action packed story that’s strange but entertaining. The reliance on a artificial intelligence, unbelievably created on the fly by a college-age girl who despises people, was hard to believe but oddly – the authors made it work. The interactions between the President of the United States, indigenous tribal members, and elements of a broken but still effective group of US Army soldiers made things even weirder – but again, the authors succeeded in weaving the disparate pieces together. This is the end of the United States, after all. My only wish was that this odd group would have formed an alliance with the group in Idaho and together pushed out the Russian invaders who took advantage of the broken country. Sadly, the Idaho group never made it into the story and neither did the other story lines from the other books in the series. Overall, a weird way to end the series but entertaining, nonetheless. Another outstanding performance by Kevin Pierce – the “voice of the apocalypse”.
