This is the 2nd book in the series. I have listened to the books out of order and each one stands alone.
Lady Fieldhurst is invited by Lady Holingshead to spend the summer at her Yorkshire estate. After a dinner party, the nearby vicarage was struck by lightning and caught fire. Tragically the vicar, who had just been at dinner that evening, perished in the blaze. But – the facts of his death just didn’t seem to add up for Lady Fieldhurst. Not knowing how to proceed with her suspicions, she sends for John Pickett, a Bow Street Runner (Early British policeman) and asks him to investigate undercover.
This is a great mystery series, and you will want to read all the books! The narration in each book is absolutely fabulous and sounds like a full cast production. I was gifted a copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for an honest review.
