The writing is solid, combat is especially well written, but the narrator has some extremely American pronunciation of Japanese terms, of which there are plenty.
The book does suffer a bit early on from info dumps that feel somewhat shoehorned in.
Minor gripe, but the author decided to use non-standard units of time instead of seconds/minutes/hours, and even in context, it interrupted the flow of the story for me. It just seemed unnecessary to change.
