Many litRPGs rely on the character having god-tier powers, gamebreaking abilities, or are good at everything.
Ned (protagonist) gets his edge from a head start and a knowledge of the games mechanics. It makes for a refreshing change of pace. The threat of losing the head start creates a pleasant pressure that keeps Ned from leaping to Godhood.
