overall I enjoyed the book. harem trope aside and the music segments that seemed like practice sessions passed off as great performances, the concept of the world is what kept me interested. I enjoyed the game mechanics and the game world and the nuanced “everyday life technology”. something I value most in a book is one that gets me to actually pause and think. the way these characters interact with the real world had me day dreaming constantly about what it would be like to live in the world described.

as for the narration, soundbooth audio knocks it out of the park. some of their projects in the past have struggled with balance between narration and music/sound effects. i think at this point they’ve mastered their craft as far as production is concerned. Jeff & Annie have mastered their voice a long long time ago and they’re no complaints in their performances. actually having listened to a lot of their narrations, it was fun for me to hear iconic voices from other stories come back. albeit It’s not intentional on behalf of the narrators and maybe some people may find it distracting but for me it was a sense of familiarity of characters long gone surfacing for just a small bit that nostalgia kicks in.

can’t wait to hear the next installment. if you don’t mind the very few critiques I mentioned, the book is entertaining and going strong in Harmons little world. I would recommend
