Great book, distracting sound effects

Seriously ruined in many places by the performers need to add sound effects.
The epic fight scene at the end was incredibly hard to follow due to the fact you could barely hear the narrator over the sound effect.
Thankfully it was a good enough book to make up for it, otherwise i would have returned it.
Terrible performance!
To add to the sound effects was the constant volume changing, sounded like the narrator kept leaning closer and further from the mic, or the worst was when he’d try to imitate a far off person and make it muffled.
