I’ll start with my biggest complaint – AUDIBLE LIES TO US ABOUT THE LENGTH OF THE BOOK. (I don’t blame the author – this was likely Audible’s lie.) This book is listed as 7:45 long, and Audible knows that many people, including me, won’t spend a credit on a book that’s much less than 8 hours long. In truth, this book is actually 6:45 long, and then audible has added a full hour of book 2 at the end of this book, and they count it as part of the listed length of the book. That is clearly dishonest, and there’s no excuse for it. Audible does this to the entire series, with some of the books actually being as much as an hour shorter than the listed length.

As for the book itself, I really enjoyed it. Very different from my normal genre – military scifi. Here – no war; no fights; no battles. But great character development, and it’s about life aboard a transport ship rather than a military ship. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.

Also a comment about the narrator, Jeffrey Kafer. Lot’s of people like him a lot. I’m not a big fan, though, because he seldom changes voices between characters, and most of his sentences end on a down note. He reminds me of Eeyore. But he’s very good in this series, and I gave him 5 stars.
