The story is really enjoyable. I liked all of the characters. The main character’s accent needs work…it tends to throw everything off (but DID NOT RUIN the audio…if you speed the playback a bit). She definitely states that she grew up in the LOW COUNTRY of South Carolina. While I appreciate the fact that she doesn’t do the “Driving Miss Daisy” patrician accent, the accent of our character is more Appalachian in the reading (a more twangy and too slow!). Whatever the race of those raised in the Low Country, there always seems to be a little Gullah in there and it’s not as twangy or slow as Tennessee…a little faster and sweeter. Good for thought on next book.
