This is a decent book, vaguely similar to Iron Prince. I wished it had more fantasy elements but it’s closer to a martial arts book. The “humble” manner of speaking gets a little tiring towards the end.
For narration I like Travis Baldree’s other books, this one is decent too except for one glaring issue – as someone who knows the original pronunciation of “mantra”, every time it was read in this book, it was very jarring. If the word occurred only a few times, that would have been fine. But “mantra” seems to be the core of the book, and if a word is repeated hundreds of the time, the narrator should have tried to get his pronunciation of that word less jarring.
