This story fell into ridiculous territory not because of the story elements or plot lines but the time frame. You can have fast paced action without making 12 catastrophes happen in a day. Yes, in a disaster situation many things will go wrong in a short amount of time. No, the same few characters will not be running around in the middle of every dramatic situation within one or two days. It takes away from the story to have such unrealistic timelines. Look at Day 23 to get an idea of what I mean.
It’s also ridiculous that all the experienced, competent adults revolve around an 18yr old girl’s decisions. Yes, there will always be followers who defer to a stronger personality. Most of the main characters are not natural followers. I don’t see these experienced people with military backgrounds deferring to the MFC so early in the story.

Otherwise, the story is entertaining.
