This book has some very good stories in it but the author used so many repetitive superlatives and hyperbole that it
became monotonous to listen to. . Those stories could have stood on their own without the continuous embellishment and overstatements of the author.

For me it was like a meal that had been over cooked and oversalted. Part of the blame I believe is due to the narration.
The narrator never developed a cadence. It was continuous full on emphasis of every adjective, adverb and superlative that the author wrote. At various times I ended up fast forwarding through the excessive descriptions. In literature as in art, the writer, or artist has to know when enough is enough.
