The story starts simply enough: boy who wants power doesn’t have it and strives to get it. Classic hero’s journey type stuff. So in the middle when all that gets turned on its head and you are introduced to the greater story it can be a bit disorienting. However, once you get past that and start getting on board with where the story really wants to take you, it’s a lot of fun. The narrator clearly had a lot of fun with all the different characters and it was actually really easy to figure out who was speaking simply from the voice acting.

If you are willing to stick with it, I think this story rewards you for preseverance and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
