This book has pretty good sex scenes but that’s were the compliments end for me. The main character makes poor decisions throughout the entire book and despite just getting out of an abusive horrible relationship and claiming she’s learned from her mistakes, she often puts herself in vulnerable positions to be taken advantage of by another possessive, over bearing man she doesn’t even know. She refuses to go to therapy and isolates herself, only really seeing her new love interest. She also only really knows him for the span of a couple of weeks before she’s ready to make giant commitments. It feels very much like the twilight series in that way. Also like the twilight series, it romanticizes men who want to own you and relationships with a very uneven power dynamic.

The narrator does this super high pitched, annoying, vapid voice for the women and the conversations between Sophie and Kate are almost unbearable. That being said, the voice he does for the men isn’t bad.

If you want to listen to a book that has pretty good and interesting sex scenes (I would do a bit of research to make sure it’s the kind of sex scenes you would like) and can ignore a dumb plot with quiet a few holes and a slightly insulting portrayal of a domestic abuse survivor, then I would give it a listen. If not then I would look for another erotica to read.
