Overall a very nice second book, the MC gets to be smarter more often and things progress nicely, Author fills in why Michael seems a tad overpowered and ties together the plot and multiple characters and factions well.
Potential spoiler:
The spirit tes section was… Bad frankly, the test multiple people have failed seemed so simple and nonthreatening that it’s unbelievable no one passed before Michael. Michael has to become fairly dumb in this sequence for there to seem to be any threat and while the author does and overall jod on the imagination side of his story this section felt like he just didn’t know what to do and so made a generic test that didn’t really seem to TEST much at all and honestly some the ways he passed trials did NOT seem to jive with the purpose of it, I had a hard time paying attention during this point because of the above. before and after are legitimately great, but the spirit test was the lowest point in the whole book despite how important it is.
