Overall, I enjoyed this listen. The performance was decent, although, sometimes it seemed that Conner couldn’t narrate some sections fast enough…almost like the sentence needed to be read in one breath. That aside, overall, both narrators did excellent on changing voices to distinguish different characters. The storyline & plot were good. The beginning of the book up to about Ch 43-44 were a little slow moving, but I’m actually ok with that. It gives a little more time for character development. But at that point, it was almost warp speed. From Ch 43-44 where we have intense hatred, then suddenly in Ch 46 we have thoughts of forever. When these enemies finally came together, they were good together, it just felt like the early stages of their relationship were rushed. The villainous characters were definitely ones to promote hatred of a character…I even caught myself talking to Arden & getting pissed when she just became a doormat. But the backbone she grew later in the book was very welcome. Their lack of communication was infuriating, but in the end, it helped them grow. I loved the way that they both harbor feeling for each other, but more slow burn would’ve been even better. I am interested in what happens to the other brothers, so I will likely read or listen to the others.
