Introvert vs extrovert
This was my first time reading this author. Although it was book 5 it read fine as a standalone. I didn’t hate it but I definitely didn’t love it. I didn’t find the plot interesting enough. It did get better in the second half but it still wasn’t that interesting to me. I do think that the 2 main characters were developed well. However, they had no chemistry the first half. It did improve in the second half but by then I didn’t really feel connected to the characters.
It had medium heat (mostly in the last third) and medium angst (which I saw coming from the very start of the book so it wasn’t surprising). I didn’t like the severity of the drama near the end and the things said. Really I was surprised they worked it out in the end. I probably wouldn’t have been so understanding but that’s just me. I wouldn’t listen to it again and prob wouldn’t recommendpace. However the preview of the next book at the end seemed interesting so I may give that a read.
The narrator did a really good job. They have a pleasant voice and kept good pace. They expressed emotions well. They differentiated side characters voices well but I do wish the 2 MCs were a little more distinct.
