This was a challenge. Soundbooth Theater did their best, and they’re the sole reason I managed to finish the second half.

This book feels like a direct-to-Amazon product. You know the kind that bypasses traditional publishers and editors, resulting in basic grammar errors. But the pacing is even worse.

It’s clear that there were significant editing errors. Whenever you make drastic changes to a piece of writing, you need to ensure that your work is polished and error-free.

I could overlook some of the relationship issues if the characters were, say, eight years old. Or if the book had been written by children. I haven’t done any research, so that’s just a guess.

The pacing was generally good until new characters were introduced, and everything went downhill. It’s so bad that I’m grateful they ended the book the way they did. The introduction of those new characters didn’t serve the story and was detrimental to its overall quality.

I plan to listen to the second book eventually, but this is one rare instance where I’ll never purchase the physical version.
