I appreciated the characters and the personal connections that they make in the story. The narration was performed well. The plot felt a bit forced, and I didn’t really care about the antagonist. I couldn’t see any good reason why the antagonist would hate vampires or humanity so much. I also couldn’t find a viable reason why Alec’s former human co-workers would arrest him. If they don’t believe in the supernatural, then they wouldn’t have believed that Alec could disappear in the blink of any eye or appear in a heavily guarded place without catching anyone’s attention. The logic just didn’t work for me. If you are reading/listening to the book for the drama and the romance, this will still be enjoyable, but my logic oriented brain couldn’t overlook the plot flaws.
