Space Pirate Charlie was a good follow-up to Bad Luck Charlie and most of the complaints I had with the first book were addressed here, ie, the book picks up a lot earlier and the narrator does a better job with putting emotion into the voices. The story picks up with a recap of book 1, which I really appreciate the author including, and then continues right where book one left off. The story was original and moves along quickly, I enjoyed the character building and how the author brings the characters together into a cohesive team. I really appreciate that Charlie seems to be a lot smarter now compared to book 1 as well. The narrator does a good job with this novel, giving all of the characters distinct voices. The only problem I have with this book is the title. There aren’t many pirates in this novel, and Charlie doesn’t spend any time as a Space Pirate. So all that being said, it’s definitely worth a listen and it really improves on book one, but NEEDS MOAR PIRATES. I’m looking forward to book 3.
