I think an EMP attack is the scariest type of apocalyptic story because of the great number of people who will need to try to survive with old technology that struggled to provide for a much smaller population. Days of Panic however quickly dwindles the number of survivors. It was a good story about an unusual group of people, all with ghosts of their own life problems, trying to survive. The characters are different than what you typically find in this type of story. This type of novel frequently features a need to reunite with family, Hunt cleverly mixes this with a ticking clock threat to the family left behind to create tension.
Unfortunately I don’t think the narrator was right for this book. His voice and tone seemed better suited to a story about mischievous boys or a cozy mystery. While clearly and accurately spoken the narrator failed to carry the drama and tension of the story.
