For a trilogy, this was a quick series that remained fast pasted. The characters were very likeable and there was almost a bond with some.
The good: A departure from typical prepper fiction. This was more “sci-fi” and eye-opening than it was SHTF fiction. That’s a good thing. It added a bit of reality that we’ve been seeing and some outlandish issues I guess we will face with AI and Quantum computers.
The bad: Really? A dream sequence? Felt like this was an afterthought to add to the length of the book. The ending felt a bit forced and the “negotiation” with the contractor that took place was a bad add-in.
Overall, Ryan’s writings are a departure from some of the more amateur authors in the prepper world. I like his style, I like his realness that is put forward and keeps content coming in a fresh and interesting way.
