This book was pretty good. Most of the criticism i saw in other reviews was unwarranted. there was 1 sex scene, and the occasional F-bomb, they neither added to nor took much away from the story.
The main character is in fact a good guy, just not a religious man. He wants to, and does, good as best he can in any situation he’s given. I like that he doesn’t blindly follow rules, but instead tries to keep his intent to do good as his focus.
My only dislike of the book is the overused cliche that “bad isnt so bad” and “good is just as evil as evil”. I’m not sure why every writer has to make the good guys out to be just another flavor of evil, but its a weak device to assume everyone in a world is just different shades of evil–except the main character who somehow has a perfect moral compass.
All in all a good listen, though the spider queen and the mind eater voices were a bit over the top. Ill definitely get other books in the series.
