The urban fantasy setting and card system are all well fleshed out. And despite its predictability, the story was also enjoyable.
However it is very clean the author has no idea how to write women. As mentioned in another review, the main girl in this series offers herself up to the mc as a form of payment. MC rebuffes her advance and then she immediately responds with “am I not pretty enough?” If you think that’s gross, MC is 38 and main girl is under 18. In the book they share a bed together for the night and it just felt gross. Grant it nothing happened, but the author seems to want to place these two characters in a romantic relationship as the series progresses.
Oh and the author uses the “*R*-ard” word for zero reason.
All in all I’m done reading this series.
