The story had potential and the narrator was good but two things really killed this for me. First of all this is not really a GameLit RPG. I think the author may have mentioned stats and points a few times but overall it was very much secondary to everything. Next was the introduction of a completely unnecessary LGBTQ2+ element that made for so many cringeworthy moments that I eventually just had enough. I buy these books for entertainment and escape and the characters have to be at least a tiny bit relatable to me. Besides being dull and confusing in their motivations, these characters were the least relatable ones I have ever listened to. By the time I quit this book I really couldn’t care less what happened to them or if the virtual world disappeared forever because it really doesn’t matter. People would just have to find something else to do at night….like sleep perhaps. I’m writing this review because I wish someone had written a truthful one like this for me before I wasted a credit.
