I’ve played these types of games for over 25 years. This story immediately pulled me in and made literally laugh out loud throughout the entire book. I love that I can relate to all of Carl’s frustrations (bad stats, poor gear, learning curve, group mates that don’t play their class properly, etc). The fact that he curses as much as I do when I play is hilarious (so it’s not just me with my love/hate relationship with mmo’s) to me….
The narration is TOP NOTCH! Mr. Hays nails the characters personalities perfectly. Watching the relationship with Carl and Donut go from reluctant team mates to reliable partners/friends is great, and the I elections and attitudes portrayed really bring it all to life. I could go on and on, but I’d rather just keep listening!
