It’s a fun casual read. But long lists of stats and abilities are kind of annoying. There’s also many small moments that needed a little polish. I will only give examples from the very start of the story. Like the forced jovial scenes, or when it goes on a tangent about Malina rolling her eyes, saying it was a first eye roll, when the end of the first book dedicated several sentences to her eye rolls. Or Damien spending days trapped on a rock before thinking to check his pockets. Really? And what were the Four doing outside Ardeem greeting Damien and Malina at the start? Why were they intimidated by them at that stage? All in all, the story just needed a bit more polish. But it was fun.
