I really disagree with the reviewers who said that the MC was a “whiny simpleton”, I actually found him refreshingly capable. To those who are expecting an “Asimov/Reynolds/Liu Cixin/Clarke” hard sci-fi, you will be disappointed. This book is more akin to JN Chaney/Glynn Stewart/MR Forbes (I.e. light on science, heavy on fiction). The book’s plot is simple, characters are engaging, plot moves along at a fast clip. It is what it is; a pulpy sci-fi. Personally, I enjoyed it. The narrator is perfect for this book as well.
