This is a very entertaining LitRPG book with great characters and an interesting story. It follows Alex a professional gamer who has been accepted into the Beta of a brand new Virtual Reality game Resurgence. The game is produced by the company AltCon and is cutting edge with cutting edge equipment a brand new VR pod that makes the game insanely realistic and immersive. The game of Resurgence is a fantasy based game and should feel somewhat familiar to anybody who has played RPG’s before. Alex receives an error in his VR pod everytime he logs in and this error seems to give him a 10x multiplier of his Chance skill which definitely comes into play in the book.
Alex and his group have fun interactions and become quick friends and soon become the leading team in the game thanks to their skill, knowledge and Alex’s chance modifier doesn’t hurt. There is also a bit of a mystery going on with AltCon that is being investigated by an undercover department of defense agent in game which lends a different and interesting aspect to the story.
The narration by Christopher James Mayer was very good and fit the story and characters very well. I am interested in the future installments to see how it ends up. If you are a fan of LitRPG i would definitely check this one out.
