This book seems to put more effort into development of major characters than you might expect from a harem-style series. Mostly, it is sort of a light-hearted romp, even when getting into more dark/serious moments. Otherwise, standard fare for the genre. I hope future installments develop the world more. There’s certainly sexual content, but it isn’t pervasive if you would rather skip over it. – – With narration, I am actually a bit conflicted with this one. I love Soundbooth Theater productions and even had good experiences with JTJ taking the lead on narration. Here, the supporting narrators were fantastic. JTJ’s performance was mostly good, but in action scenes his performance felt disconnected. Whether it was life or death fights or the one full mature content scene, his tone took on an almost sing-song quality instead of matching the energy or emotion. It was jarring enough to pull my thoughts right out of the story.
