Anyway, this was a really interesting book. Not exactly what I expected from the concept that was presented, I was honestly hoping something closer to Crystal Shards with different game worlds that have different generas, simply because I find that interesting. Failing that I was expecting something closer to the DND multiverse, where all these different settings exist next to eachother and relativly function together but independently in culture and other things.

World Tree was neither of those, and that’s fine. It stays fantasy the whole way and it’s really good at it. The story allows for alot of interesting situations to happen in those years in the game. Especialy for those who become central to the story, who do more than party or just… live during the game-time.

This story has alot of really interesting factors. Personaly, I’m not the biggest fan of that writing device, I prefer my time jumps to be smaller or between stories, it feels like alot of interesting stuff is skipped over. That’s fine, because the main story is great and the time skips allows it to flow better, putting the story first. I can respect that.

Now from a listening prospective… I listened to the audio book and it was interesting to me because World Tree Online is about half way into Audio Drama teritory. There are a couple voice actors with different charecter voices, there are sound effects and the odd amusical cue, and there are some voice effects. Mostly these are good to set what the audio is, but few are destracting. Particularly the reverb effect used for thought portions of the writing really confused me for a hot minute. I kept thinking another thing was playing in the background.

In any case, all in all a solid story, especialy the way the main charecters influence the world.
